Happy Anniversary, Mr. Devon...

This year commemorates the 10th Anniversary of my first self-published novel, The Devon Proposition, featuring Matt Devon. I created Devon back in 2007 mostly out of my frustration with the standard fare that seemed to dominate the bookstore shelves in the years following 9/11 and from watching way too much 24 on Fox TV. (Hey, at least I admit it.)
Matt Devon is a former marine and mercenary turned operative for the Department of the Army's Liberty Union of New America (LUNA), under the command of General Harold Stanphill.
Over the course of seven years or so, I churned out the first three volumes of The Patriot Chronicles and I enjoyed every minute of the process.
So, If you enjoy action/adventure fiction in the vein of Bourne, Bauer and maybe even Plissken, be sure to check out The Patriot Chronicles. All titles are available at most online book sellers. Signed copies are also available for $15 via PayPal-- paypal.me/lunasurvival. Help support independent authors.

Book Three of The Patriot Chronicles Due Out By Mid-2020.

To those readers who have read the first two Matt Devon adventures and are anxious to get their  "Devon Fix", then I am happy to announce that I am hard at work writing the next installment of The Patriot Chronicles. After failing to meet my last three personal deadlines to get Book Three finished, I am giving up on anymore completion goals, but all I can say is I will try my very best to have it finished and in the proofing stage by mid-summer of 2020. Maybe sooner, but who knows? Watch this space for further details and updates. The Fight Against Tyranny Continues.....

MATT DEVON IS BACK!!!                               Hello, Readers. It's been awhile since my last post. I have no excuse except for procrastination getting the best of me, but I would like to announce, rather late, the publication of The Devon Intervention, Book II of The Patriot Chronicles (ISBN-13: 978-1519322401), the long anticipated return of Matt Devon and the brave patriots of LUNA.         Devon, a former marine turned mercenary, now a LUNA operative, is given a seemingly routine assignment to protect a populist Colorado senator, but when the senator is snatched from protective custody, Devon must use all his resources in his search for the senator and those responsible for her disappearance, only to discover that the truth is more horrifying than anything imaginable.
I am also very proud to announce the release of the newly revised edition of my first novel, The Devon Proposition, Book I of The Patriot Chronicles (ISBN-13: 978-1494310721).  Both titles are available now at Amazon.com. Thank you for your support.

Being a writer was not one of the many career choices I had in mind when I was younger. Sure, I loved books and reading, but never considered attempting to actually write until I was a young PFC in the Marine Corps in the winter of 1982. I wrote a lot of poetry during that time and even began to write a short story about a private investigator named Rick Slade ( little did I realize until a few years later, the name Rick Slade was already taken). It was in the first person and, more than likely, inspired by the film Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid with Steve Martin. The short story was never finished, but completed or not, it helped me get a feeling for what I could do with my imagination, as long as I could somehow convey it onto paper. More inspirations for my early writing were the works of Rod Serling, The World According To Garp by John Irving but, of course, my biggest influences were Ian Fleming, Don Pendleton and Clive Cussler. Other than taking a few creative writing courses in high school and one semester in college, I never had any formal training to be a writer. I just wrote from many pages of notes and let spell checker do the rest. If my passage looked and sounded right, I would leave it alone. If not, I would find a way to make it sound right. I still have a lot to learn and the easiest way to learn, is to write. Having said that, I would like to share an inspiring story on writing I heard recently: Once upon a time, a night school creative writing teacher sat at his desk, while his new students filed into the classroom and took their seats. Once they were settled in, the teacher stood before the class and introduced himself, then asked them; "So, you all want to be writers, do you?" and the class said "Yes." Then the teacher replied back, "Well, why aren't you at home writing?" I really don't have any advice for new writers out there, because I still am a novice myself, but I will tell them this: If you want to write, then just write. It doesn't matter if you are any good or not, just write because the more you write, the better you will get. Read everything you can in your chosen genre and write even more. Keep a journal or a note book and follow your dreams and imagination, New worlds can be created with just one blank sheet of paper and a pencil or pen. Go out and start dreaming and creating.

Since the release of my first novel, The Devon Proposition, in February 2014, many changes have taken place in my life that sometimes I forget that I even wrote a book. When my book was first published, I thought that the feelings of pride, satisfaction and achievement would hardly be surpassed. Little did I realize, that was far from the truth. I married a beautiful young woman late last year and we had the most adorable baby girl together in the spring of this year. Becoming a husband and father again, after being on my own for so long, is life changing and the notoriety and recognition from having a book published pales in comparison. As I write this, I am currently working on the second installment of The Patriot Chronicles and trying to find more exciting and dangerous exploits for Devon to get into. Watch this space for further updates. Read on!!

Those who know me and have read my novel (and if you haven't, please do so soon  ), may see a lot of me in the story and surprisingly, that was no accident. Two of the main characters are composites of myself, my beliefs, my principles, my experiences and my hopes for a better future for our country. The protagonist of the story, Matt Devon, was created out of pure love for the action hero but he's 80% me, okay, maybe 90% me. He's not perfect. He's somewhat of an anti-hero, in some aspects, but he has a heart of gold and he's haunted by the demons of his past on a daily basis. I enjoy putting a lot of me into this character and the more I write about him, the more I learn about him, and myself, as well. Read on:https://www.createspace.com/4546993

The world in the my debut novel,The Devon Proposition, is much like the world we live in today but just a little more dangerous and unpredictable. Luckily, the heroic characters I created actually care about their country and will fight against all odds to make things better and most of all, I made them out to be very patriotic and awake. They see, as I do, that the biggest threat to their freedom and liberty is from their own government and that is who they concentrate their focus on at Fortress Nine. General Stanphill and the vigilant patriots of LUNA will continue to fight the dark forces that have taken over the country and will restore the Republic back to her former glory. There is hope, even if it's derived from the imagination of someone who still believes in heroes and the triumph of good over evil. Read on. https://www.createspace.com/4546993
